This famous Paris street is hosting a picnic for 4,000 people – here’s how to join

There’s something quite chic about a picnic, and Paris certainly has plenty of spots to throw down a blanket and tear apart some baguette – we even have a guide to the best shops for picnic food

But you won’t need it at this mega-picnic which is planned for the French capital. That’s right – food will be provided for you from local eateries and restaurateurs up and down the Champs-Élysées, where it’s set to take place.

In collaboration with LG Electronics, the street’s committee have planned an enormous picnic for Sunday May 26, which will be hosting up to 4,000 guests.

Running all the way from the Arc de Triomphe to the intersection of Avenue George V, the entire area will be car-free and divided into nine sections, all featuring different French delicacies and outdoor games. Each person will be given a jam-packed basket upon arrival, too.

From the intersection to Rue Arsène Houssaye, the street will be covered in a 216-metre long red and white gingham blanket, and given the picnic is set to cover an area of 4,212 metres in total, it could be recognised by the Guinness World Records as the largest ever held!
